Buh-Bye Monsanto?

A rose by any other name...

Word is Monsanto has been courting the UK for relocation. Other than listening to cool accents and a milder climate than their current St. Louis location, Monsanto's move would be for tax reasons.


Merging with Syngenta would mean a possible name change. Considering Monsanto's history; Agent Orange, PCBs, Glyphosate, DDT, GMOs, and  bovine growth hormone more than a name change may be needed to reinvent Monsanto's image and social currency.




At the 2015 Monsanto Shareholder's meeting, Moms Across America found Zen Honeycutt personally spoke one on one with  Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant and asked him to consider leading Monsanto in a direction "... one that does not involve toxic chemicals and hurting our children.". Zen also put a proxy up to vote and asked several questions during the Q&A.

What is the purpose of the name change? Aspartame became AmnioSweet. Black Water became Xe. Phillip Morris became Altria. ValuJet became AirTran. Will Monsanto slide into obscurity? 

Will a name change confuse the public? 


Will a name change mean a new direction for Monsanto?

Industry Proposal Would Bar GE Food Labels | Environmental Working Group

Washington, D.C. – A new legislative proposal drafted by the food industry that would make it impossible for any state to require labeling of genetically engineered food reveals how far some big companies will go to hide basic information from their own customers, EWG President Ken Cook said today.
POLITICO published a draft of the bill today. It shows that the food industry wants to bar states from requiring GE labels on food and to limit the Food and Drug Administration’s ability to compel food companies to use GE labeling.
“Clearly, this is an industry that will stop at nothing to hide from its customers basic information on what’s in their food,” said Cook. “If this proposal were to become law, it would make it impossible for any state to require labeling of GE foods, even if an overwhelming majority of its residents demand it.”
