Dear Girls Scouts; About those cookies....

Dear Girl Scout Council,

I love you cookies, but I can't eat them or feed them to my family. 
I am sure you are aware by now they have GMOs in them. 
My family doesn't purchase products with GMOs in them. 
I miss my samoas and lemonades,... and thin mints too.

We'd like you to make your cookies like Simply Eight, who just got their first product NON GMO Project Verified. We're not buying Kellogg's Keebler division GMO Girl Scout Cookies any more.

Factory Meat is under recall for beef-- bringing up a great thought.. Do farm practices play into your choice for eating in restaurants? Are you willing to pay more or drive further to eat better?

In the Charleston area Sesame offers grass fed hamburgers at both of it's locations in North Charleston and West Ashley. Sesame also offers chicken and turkey burgers were antibiotic, hormone, &; cage free fed a vegetarian diet. Gluten free bins are avail too. My favorite is a Colorado on a bed of greens! Very yummy.

Charleston Costco List: February 2014

Charleston Costco has stocked new and exciting items for our pleasure ; a new organic hummus flavor Spicy Red Pepper, Late July snack chips, and a few new & interesting frozen options. Discontinued items {insert frownie face}: Somersaults, Disney Animal Crackers-- and all items with asterisks.

Costco has a special sale on Organics valid February 3 - March 2. All items included in the flyer are colored highlighted. Some great items on sale!

Disappointed there were zero fresh fruit organic options with the exception of pre-sliced packets of apples. I am weary with disappointment with the search for fresh organic fruits at Costco. Always the grapes, pretty berries, and bananas taunt me with their fruity-ness, but I decline them all in search for the better options. Normally at Earth Fare  or Stono Market on the way home.

I am keeping the pressure on about the organs and needing fruit selections and you can too. On each trip to Costco, I visit the member suggestion table across from the soda fountain. You can request items, ask questions, and thank Costco for increasing the number of Organics and GMO-free options. They respond to the demand of the customers, if we buy it, they will continue to sell it, if we ask for it, they will try to get it for us. -- Beth
